The European Lifestyle Medicine Council Privacy Policy
1: Introduction
The European Lifestyle Medicine Council (ELMC) takes privacy seriously. This privacy policy sets out how ELMC uses the personal data we collect from individuals when they use our website.
2: The data we collect
2.1 We use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect information on how you use the site, using cookies and page tagging techniques.
The information we - and Google - collect doesn't identify anyone, and is kept for a maximum of 38 months. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through the site, we will be up front about it.2.2 Email alerts
We collect your email address, name and subscription preferences when you sign up to our email alerts. We also track how our emails are used - for example whether you open them and which links you click on.
If you've signed up for email alerts, you can unsubscribe or change your settings at any time by selecting the 'unsubscribe' link that appears in every email.
Once you have unsubscribed, your details will be deleted immediately from the system.2.3 Feedback
If you contact us asking a question or giving feedback, we collect your email address and any other personal data contained in your message. If you contact us asking for information, we may need to contact other government bodies to find that information.2.4 Blogs and discussion sites
We collect names or usernames, and email addresses with each comment. This data is kept as long as the blog post or dialogue remains published.
3: How we collect personal identifiable data
3.1 You directly provide ELMC with most of the data we collect. We collect and process data when you:
- Become a member online
- Register online for any of our events or products and services
- Voluntarily provide feedback through our member surveys or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email
- Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies3.2 ELMC may also receive your data indirectly from member society event management systems.
4: How we use personal identifiable data
4.1 ELMC collects data from individuals in order to:
- process and manage country society membership applications
- process and manage registration for events we run
- email individuals about events and send out regular newsletters
- process applications for the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine Diploma4.2 ELMC will not share your data with our partner organisations unless you have given your consent for this.
5: Marketing
ELMC sends out information on our events and resources that we think may be of interest to you, as well as those of our partner organisations. They are listed here: Partner Organisations
If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.
You have a right at any time to stop ELMC from contacting you for marketing purposes.

6: Your data protection rights
ELMC would like to make sure you are fully aware of all your data protection rights.
Every member and user of our services is entitled to the following:
6.1 The right to access – you have the right to request ELMC provides you with copies of your personal identifiable data free of charge.
6.2 The right of rectification – you have the right to request that ELMC corrects any information which is inaccurate. You also have the right to request ELMC to complete information you believe is incomplete.
6.3 The right to erasure – you have the right to request that ELMC erase your personal identifiable data, under certain conditions.
6.4 The right to restrict processing – you have the right to request that ELMC restricts the processing of your personal identifiable data, under certain conditions.
6.5 The right to object to processing – you have the right to object to ELMC’s processing of your data, under certain conditions.
6.6 The right to data portability – you have the right to request that ELMC transfers the data that we have collected about you to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
